In Episode Three of BAAM Podcast we chat with Jack Lovel. Jack is an Architectural Photographer based in Melbourne, Australia. He works primarily with architects & designers and his editorial work has been published in Dwell, Elle Decor, and Habitus. Outside of his day-to-day shooting, Jack has spent the last three years pursuing a personal project documenting Iwan Iwanoff's architectural legacy in Western Australia. This body of work, titled "The Architecture of Iwan Iwanoff — Through the Lens of Jack Lovel” was recently exhibited at a gallery in Perth. Jack's pursuit of this project was inspired by his childhood home (Jordanoff House) which was, incidentally, designed by Iwanoff. These early memories of his family home sparked his long fascination with architecture and design!
In this episode, we talk about how Jack got started as and Architecture and Interiors Photographer. In a world filled with online learning and tutorials, Jack took the old school way and assisted for several well established photographers, all the while, learning and refining his craft along the way. He describes his early days working as a photographer in Melbourne and what it took to build a successful practice. Jack also talks about his passion project: "The Architecture of Iwan Iwanoff — Through the Lens of Jack Lovel".
